Tummy Tuck
Achieve the flat, toned midsection you've always wanted.
Achieve the sleek, tone physique of your dreams.
Are you struggling with stubborn belly fat, loose skin, or weakened abdominal muscles that won't respond to diet and exercise? A tummy tuck at Truly You Med Spa can help you achieve the flat, toned midsection you've always wanted. Our expert surgeons use advanced techniques to remove excess fat and skin, tighten abdominal muscles and create a smoother, firmer stomach contour.
What is a Tummy Tuck?
A tummy tuck is a surgery to reshape and contour the abdominal area. The result is a flatter, more toned midsection that looks natural and proportionate to your body.
During a tummy tuck, your Truly You surgeon will cut an opening across the lower abdomen, typically from hip to hip. Through this incision, they will remove excess fat and skin, repair and tighten the abdominal muscles and reposition the navel if necessary.
A tummy tuck can provide numerous aesthetic and functional benefits:
- Removal of skin and fat for a smoother, flatter abdomen
- Tightening of weakened or separated abdominal muscles
- Improved waistline definition
- Reduction of stretch marks on the lower abdomen
- Enhanced core strength and stability
- Better-fitting clothes and increased confidence in swimwear
- Potential improvement in posture and relief from back pain
Many of our patients report feeling more confident and comfortable in their bodies after a tummy tuck, enjoying a renewed sense of self-esteem and body image.
Ideal Candidates for
Tummy Tuck Surgery
You may be an excellent candidate for a tummy tuck if you:
- Are at or near your ideal body weight
- Have excess skin and fat in the abdominal area resistant to diet and exercise
- Have weakened or separated abdominal muscles, often due to pregnancy or significant weight loss
- Are in good overall health with no major medical conditions
- Understand and keep realistic expectations about the procedure and results
- Are a non-smoker before and after surgery
A tummy tuck is not a weight loss procedure. It's designed to contour and reshape the abdomen, not to remove large amounts of fat. If you're significantly overweight, we may recommend achieving a stable, healthy weight before considering a tummy tuck.
Complementary Procedures
For more comprehensive body contouring, you may choose to pair these procedures with your tummy tuck surgery:
Liposuction
Adding liposuction to your tummy tuck can enhance your results by removing stubborn fat deposits from the flanks, hips and upper abdomen. This combination can create a more sculpted waistline and smoother contour overall.
Breast Surgery
Combining a tummy tuck with breast augmentation, breast lift or reduction is often called a "Mommy Makeover." This combination addresses multiple areas affected by pregnancy and breastfeeding in a single surgical session.
Arm Lift or Thigh Lift
Combining a tummy tuck with an arm or thigh lift can provide more comprehensive body contouring for patients who have lost significant weight.
During your consultation, we'll discuss whether combining procedures might be beneficial for achieving your overall aesthetic goals.
The Tummy Tuck Process
Consultation
Your tummy tuck journey begins with a comprehensive consultation at Truly You Med Spa. During this one-on-one meeting, your surgeon will evaluate your abdominal area and overall health, discuss your aesthetic goals and concerns, review your medical history, explain the procedure and address any concerns. We'll recommend the best approach for your specific needs and create a treatment plan to reach your goals.
Preparation
To prepare for your tummy tuck, we recommend achieving a stable weight, stopping smoking at least six weeks before surgery, avoiding certain medications and supplements as directed by your surgeon, arranging for someone to drive you home after the procedure and stay with you for the first 24-48 hours, and preparing a recovery area at home with comfortable pillows, loose clothing and easy-to-reach essentials.
Procedure Day
The surgical procedure typically takes 2-3 hours, depending on the extent of correction needed. You'll be under general anesthesia for your comfort and safety. Your surgeon will make an incision along the lower abdomen. Skin and fat will be removed and ab muscles will be repaired and tightened. The remaining skin is placed in position and the incision will be closed with sutures.
Recovery & Results
After your tummy tuck, you'll be asked to wear a compression garment that minimizes swelling and support your new contours. You may expect some discomfort, swelling and bruising for the first few weeks. Most patients return to work within 2-3 weeks, depending on the nature of their job. Avoid strenuous activities and heavy lifting for 6-8 weeks. Follow all post-operative instructions carefully for optimal healing.
While you'll see an immediate improvement in your abdominal contour, your final results will emerge over the next few months as swelling subsides and tissues settle. Your new, flatter midsection will be long-lasting if you commit to maintaining a stable weight and healthy lifestyle.
